Chief Marketing Officer
Sofia Ruzo joined Fairchild Partners in 2014 as Chief Marketing Officer. She handles the digital marketing, advertising, public relations, event planning, and graphic design for the company. She has more than seven years’ experience as a brand strategist, with particular expertise in marketing research and advertising. She grew up in South Florida in a family of commercial real estate professionals, and prior to joining Fairchild Partners had been the marketing manager for Lucchese, a luxury footwear and leather goods company based in El Paso, Texas. Prior to that she was lead brand strategist for LinkAmerica, one of the country’s fastest-growing Hispanic-owned companies.
Sofia has been a National Geographic blogger, and her photography has been published at the 2014 TED Global Conference, in Forbes, Gizmodo, Tech Insider, BBC Mundo, Huffington Post, Nexos, Hispanic Executive, and Inc. magazines as well as in National Geographic’s blog and magazine. She was the internal editor for the “The Boiling River: Adventure and Discovery in the Amazon” TED book. She has worked as an account planner at The Richards Group (Dallas), as a grantwriter and researcher at the National Center for Policy Analysis (Dallas), as a senior account executive at Market Wave agency (Dallas), and in public relations at the Jeffrey Group in Miami Beach, Florida. Sofia has been on three National Geographic grants. She handles marketing & outreach for the international conservation non-profit “The Boiling River Project,” (www.boilingriver.org) and will be conducting cultural anthropology research this summer at the Boiling River, Amazon jungle, Peru to aid in its conservation efforts.
Sofia holds a master’s degree in brand strategy from Southern Methodist University, and a double bachelor’s magna cum laude in English and marketing from Hillsdale College in Michigan. She attended the London School of Economics with an emphasis on digital marketing, and the Mudra Institute for Communications (MICA) in Ahmedabad, India, for studies in research methodology and quantitative methods.
A 2005 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Academy’s honors program in South Miami, she is fluent in English and Spanish. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, and dances at the School of Contemporary Ballet Dallas. She is certified as a White Belt in Nia, and in First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Planned and carried out nationwide advertising campaigns and special events for Lucchese.
• Led extensive research projects for The Home Depot, United Way, and Salvation Army on U.S. Hispanic/Latino markets.
• Implemented advertising strategies for Chick-fil-A, Al Dia, Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and Oncor.
• Conceived and executed LinkAmerica’s website re-design.
• Handles marketing & outreach for the international conservation non-profit “The Boiling River Project,” and conducts field work on-site to aid in conservation efforts in the Amazon jungle, Peru.
